Yanmar is a U.S.-registered trademark of Yanmar Company Limited.
Both 4WD and power steering are standard equipment on the 1025R. This combination allows for excellent maneuverability and ease of operation of the tractor.
- Narrow overall width allows the 1025R to work in tight areas where most compact tractors just cannot fit, yet the 144.8-cm (57-in.) wheel base and 119.4 cm (47 in.) overall width gives great stability for all type of terrains.
- Power steering means fewer turns of the steering wheel than manual steering; especially valuable when mowing around obstacles or when the tractor is used with a front loader.
- High horsepower-to-weight ratio makes the 1025R a good choice for a variety of tasks; overall tractor weight reduces ground compaction and makes the 1025R an excellent mowing tractor.
- The power take-off (PTO) is a fully-independent PTO on the 1025R, allowing engaging and disengaging of the PTO without stopping tractor movement. This is important when driving across obstacles such as driveways while mowing.
- Front Quik-Tatch™ hitch makes changing front implements quick and easy
- All front implements (blade, brooms, and snow blowers) use a common hitch
- AutoConnect™ mid-mount mower decks, D120 and H120 Loaders, and 260 Backhoe can be taken on or off within 5 minutes, and no tools are necessary
- Changing rear implements is a snap with the iMatchTM Quick-Hitch, which has three fixed points to back in and pick up a rear implement that is iMatch compatible
*Features shown are available with all current model year tractors.
- Allows mounting more than one implement at a time, eliminating implement changeover
- Loader, mid mower, backhoe, and a variety of 3-point hitch implements can be attached to the tractor at the same time
The 1023E and 1025R Tractors feature a HST.
- Fluid under pressure transmits engine power to the drive wheels through a hydraulic pump and motor
- The hydrostatic-drive unit functions both as a clutch and transmission
Twin Touch foot controls allow selecting both speed and direction of travel with a touch of the toe. Ideally suited for jobs where productivity is a must, such as loader or mower applications.
- Infinite ground speeds, even at full throttle, to match the job
- No clutching for fast direction changes
- Faster, easier, and more precise to operate than competitive tractors with treadle pedal design (toe-heel)
- Provides high torque for start up
- Reduces power train shock loads
- Large foot pedals were designed for operator comfort and allow for convenient operation of the tractor
Transmission has two speeds - Hi and Lo range.
- The range lever is located next to the seat, conveniently within reach of the operator
- Lo range allows performing tougher tasks at higher speeds than competitive tractors equipped with a three-range transmission (that is, lo range on three-speed transaxle is slower than lo range on a two-speed transaxle)
Durability features include:
- Large forged one-piece trunnion shaft with larger support bearings that reduce vibration and noise.
- Innovative transaxle combines an HST, gear reduction axle, and clutch.
- Pressure side filtration allows using a finer-mesh filter (10 micron) than suction filtration systems use on many competitive tractors.
- One pump to supply charge pressure and implement flow. A flow divider splits the flow to various circuits throughout the tractor.
- The transaxle has an oil cooler which provides improved hydraulic cooling performance.
The 1025R operator's station has been designed to allow greater operator comfort and increased visibility. Large and easy to grab handrails are located on each fender for an easier on and off of the tractor from either side.
- Sloping hood design provides improved visibility
- Operator's station provides plenty of room for comfortable operation
- Step-through textured flat operator station makes getting on and off the tractor easy from either side of the tractor
- Fender-mounted handrails are large and easy to grab; located on each fender, they assist the operator in getting on and off the tractor
- Controls are located next to the fenders for operator convenience
- Operator controls are color-coded for easy identification of operation
- Front-horizontal exhaust for increased operator visibility
*Features shown are available with all current model year tractors.
- If the operator leaves the tractor seat when the transmission, mid or rear power take-off (PTO) is engaged, the engine will shut down
Foldable Roll-Gard™ rollover protective structure (ROPS) and retractable-seat belt are standard equipment to protect the operator in the event of a tractor tip-over, as well as improve the ability to store tractor in a garage.
Seat belt is within easy reach of the operator, to encourage the use of it whenever operating the tractor.
*Features shown are available with all current model year tractors
Lighting
Standard equipment lighting includes:
- Two front-mounted sealed-beam halogen headlights
- Two amber-flashing warning/hazard lights mounted on the side of the ROPS with reflectors
- Two additional fender lights are standard on the 1025R
- Additional front- and rear-light kits are available
*Features shown are available with all current model year tractors
One of the greatest operator concerns involves difficulty in attaching tractor implements. John Deere has addressed this issue with the iMatch Quick-Hitch.
The iMatch Quick-Hitch provides easy hookup and a guaranteed fit for all Category 1 implements that are designed to meet the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) Category 1 Standard S278.6 for quick-attach hitches.
- All implements require a set of bushings in order for the attachment to fit and work properly with the iMatch Quick-Hitch. One set of bushings comes with the iMatch Quick-Hitch.
NOTE: The bushing set can be seen in the picture above. These bushings allow the hooks on the iMatch and the pins on the implement to fit together properly. All other implements (box blades, tillers, rear blades, etc.) will require a set of bushings to enlarge the pin to fit with the iMatch hooks. Bushings of different lengths can be found in the parts system or through a bushing supplier (see dimensions below).
- Upper bushing
- Inside diameter: 1.93-1.95 cm (0.76-0.77 in.)
- Outside diameter: 3.15-3.18 cm (1.24-1.25 in.)
- Lower bushings
- Inside diameter: 2.24-2.26 cm (0.88 to 0.89 in.)
- Outside diameter: 3.63-3.66 cm (1.43 to 1.44 in.)
- The under-hood gas-lift support provides easy one-finger access to the engine compartment and eliminates the need for a mechanical prop rod.
- This design of the support structure provides excellent rigidity for the hood.
- The 1 Family tractors includes factory-installed mechanical deck lift components.
- The addition of these components from the factory significantly reduces the time required to do the initial mower deck installation at the time of purchase.
- Refer to the mowers and material collection page for more details on mower deck installation and compatibility.

Weights
One or two 23-kg (50-lb) cast-iron weights may be installed on each rear wheel to provide extra traction and stability.
- Made of durable cast iron and painted John Deere yellow
- May be installed with wheel in either the narrow or wide position
- To stack the weights and install two on a wheel, two 1/2x8-in. bolts are required per wheel (not furnished)
One 23-kg (50-lb) plastic-shell rear-wheel weight may be installed on each rear wheel to provide extra traction and stability.
- Outer shell made of tough polyethylene plastic
- Filled with a heavy granular material that contains a high iron percentage
- A bonding substance is added to hold the material together so that it will remain intact even if shell is damaged
Multiple stacking is not recommended.
Overall width of the tractor will be increased by approximately 5 cm (2 in.) when weights are installed.
Weights are packaged one per carton, with necessary hardware for installation on a wheel, in either the narrow or wide position.
70-lb (32-kg) cast-iron starter weights can be bolted to the outside of the rear wheels for ballast.
Additional 50-lb (22.7-kg) cast-iron wheel weights may be bolted to the starter weight.
NOTES:
1. For 26-in. (660-mm) tire and rim only.
2. Starter weight not for use on all-wheel-steer tractors.
3. X700 Special Edition Tractors (model year 2012 and prior) and X738, X739, and X758 Signature Series Tractors require a BM21497 wheel weight adapter ring on each rear wheel on which weights are to be installed.
