Full-size Gator™ XUVs are powered by an 812-cc (49.6-cu in.), 3-cylinder, dual overhead cams, liquid-cooled, four-cycle gasoline engine. It produces 6.5 kgm (47 lb-ft) of torque at 3200 rpm. The advanced electronic controls and fuel-injection system deliver superb starting, idling, and throttle response during operation.
The engine offers the following performance and reliability features:
*The engine horsepower information is provided by the engine manufacturer to be used for comparison purposes only. The actual operating horsepower will be less.
The Full-size Gator™ XUVs have a precision-engineered drivetrain system that increases acceleration while balancing hauling, towing, and hill- climbing capabilities. Power is transmitted from the engine through a continuously variable clutch system to the transaxle.
Features include:
How the variable-speed drive works:
Operator interface features:
Transaxle features:
4WD features:
Drive shaft features:
To complement the robust frame, full-size Gator™ XUVs are equipped with four-wheel independent suspension.
A dual A-arm front and rear suspension provides a smooth ride over challenging terrain and excellent hauling characteristics.
The entire suspension system has been optimized to handle no cargo to maximum cargo without compromising ride quality or vehicle stability.
Vehicles with factory-installed cabs have heavy-duty front and rear shocks installed from the factory.
Dual A-arm independent rear suspension features include:
A stable vehicle starts with the design of the foundation; the full-size Gator™ XUVs have the most capable frame available in a high-performance utility vehicle.
Attributes that contribute to best-in-class stability:
Key elements of the frame include:
The heavy-duty frame provides the ultimate backbone for the XUV. The design has been proven through thousands of hours of durability testing in some of the most severe conditions.
The deluxe cargo box consists of a 15 percent glass-filled polypropylene composite material that eliminates rust and dents and reduces noise.
M-trim vehicles are built with a deluxe cargo box with spray-in liner, brake lights, and taillights.
The tailgate can be opened or removed for easier cleanout and to carry longer items. The tailgate features truck-like performance and can be operated with one hand.
The standard-installed lanyards can also be removed to lower the tailgate to 150 degrees for convenient loading and unloading tasks.
The deluxe cargo box is easier to latch, unlatch, raise, and lower with the integrated handle design and gas assist.
A prop rod is provided to hold the box in the upright position for operator convenience, as well as limit box pivot travel.
The deluxe cargo box offers integrated tie-down points for increased versatility. Tie-down points are located in the following areas:
The deluxe cargo box easily converts to a flat bed. The flatbed configuration allows loading larger cargo.
Optional accessories for the deluxe cargo box include:

The JDLink M Modem regularly transmits the location and operational status of each vehicle in the fleet so you can monitor progress in Operations Center.
The modem regularly transmits the vehicle’s engine hours to inform maintenance planning and balance use.
Factory or custom maintenance plans can be established in Operations Center. Maintenance alerts are sent when engine hours reach maintenance intervals.
On select products, the modem reports the hours the vehicle spent working and idling. The Operations Center’s Machine Analyzer tool reports usage data which allows you to analyze operator behavior, identify causes of low productivity, and initiate corrective actions.
On select products, the modem reports the fuel level. On these products, an analysis of fuel consumption is available in the Operations Center Machine Analyzer Tool. Measuring fuel consumption enables you to address causes of excessive fuel use.
On select products, the modem transmits the trouble codes generated by the vehicle’s control units to the Operations Center. Addressing DTCs can reduce downtime and repair costs. For example, a low-engine oil pressure DTC can indicate an engine is low on oil. Addressing the issue can prevent costly downtime and repairs.
To help address issues quickly, when a DTC is generated, the Operations Center can display a push notification on the mobile app and send an email. Operations Center can also be configured to limit notifications to stop-level severity DTCs.
On select products, John Deere dealers can perform remote diagnostics, software programming, and adjustments without the cost of a service call.
A JDLink Modem is included on:
A JDLink M Modem can be field installed on the Gator Utility Vehicles listed below. Field installation attachments simplify modem installation, and include mounting hardware, harness, and instructions. Field installation requires a JDLink M Modem to be ordered separately. The field installation attachments include a wiring harness therefore the modem should be ordered with the less harness option code.

On model year 2026 and newer XUV 845M, 845R, 875M, and 875R vehicles, an ethernet cable connects the JDLink M Modem to a Generation 4 or 5 display to transmit precision ag technology data to Operations Center.
Model year 2026 vehicles with a generation 4 display (4240 or 4640) also require a BUC11874 ethernet switch to adapt the generation 4 display. This applies to vehicles with factory-installed GreenStar ready option, factory-installed AutoTrac ready option, and vehicles with a BUC11814 display and receiver integration kit. GreenStar 3 2630 Displays are not compatible with model year 2026 and newer AutoTrac systems.

Reviews
I bought my gator several months ago and we have found all types of uses for it.
We bought a 2 acre property with our home on the water at the back. We use this vehicle to move trash to road, debris to burn pile, products to our onsite storage and much much more. Starts every time. Great vehicle. While we were looking for a High End Golf Cart....we came across this vehicle as an alternative.
